Program Coordinator, National Education Policy Fellowship Program

 Application Deadline: July 31, 2016

 

The Program Coordinator provides programmatic, logistical, event management, and communications support for the National Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) at the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) and supports other IEL networking functions. This position reports directly to the National EPFP Director.

About EPFP

Built on three pillars—policy, leadership, and networking—the Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP)’s mission is to develop a diverse and collaborative community of strategic leaders for effective public policy. EPFP is a nationally recognized professional development experience for leaders in education and complementary sectors that offers a neutral ground where leaders can explore complex policy issues from diverse perspectives, build leadership skills, and develop deep cross-boundary professional relationships. EPFP alumni have the opportunity to participate in the Global EPFP, to study education policy in the Age of Globalization by investigating education development challenges in economically developed and developing countries.

EPFP has more than 8,500 alumni in all 50 states, and in the 2016-17 year will expect more than 320 Fellows across 16 sites in 15 states and the District of Columbia. To this end, one of the core responsibilities of the Program Coordinator is to support the National EPFP Program Director in realizing the strategic vision of National EPFP. Core Responsibilities – EPFP

Program Coordination

  • Lead the logistical planning and assist with programmatic elements of the Washington Policy Seminar, EPFP’s annual national capstone event that brings together Fellows from across the country, as well as three EPFP coordinator (site partner) meetings each year and other EPFP events
  • Support the sustainability of the existing sites and growth of new sites
  • Cultivate relationships with and provide technical support to all EPFP sites and their coordinators
  • Coordinate logistical elements of the Global EPFP program
  • Recruit and directly supervise EPFP intern(s)

Communications

  • Maintain routine communications with the EPFP network, partners, funders, and other stakeholders
  • Manage the EPFP website and online community (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Research education policy, leadership, and networking resources and create content for EPFP publications (e.g., LeaderShipShape monthly e-newsletter, alumni blog)
  • Produce a variety of program materials (i.e., conference program book, recruitment and marketing materials, brochures, infographics)

Financial Management & Development

  • Track National EPFP budget expenditures
  • Conduct research on potential funders and assist with program development

IEL Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and create content for bimonthly IELconnects e-newsletter
  • Provide general communications support across IEL as needed
  • Extend logistical support on a variety of IEL’s long-standing networking and learning opportunities, including a monthly education policy lecture series, communications roundtable, and a week-long seminar on federal education policy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of work experience in the education sector, preferably in a nonprofit and/or membership organization setting
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented and efficient
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Advanced writing and editorial skills
  • Experience managing social media accounts in a professional setting
  • Experience planning and managing large events and conferences, including vendor management
  • Demonstrate capacity to work effectively as a team member and with colleagues of all levels, as well as on independent projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Capacity to learn quickly and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and content management systems
