Lauren Bock brings a plethora of policy, research, and communications experience to the Public School Forum. Lauren received her B.A. with honors from Wake Forest University and her master’s degree in public administration from North Carolina State University. After graduating from Wake Forest University, Lauren worked in Washington, D.C. for several years. During this time she served as Government Affairs Associate with Varian Medical Systems, Inc., and worked on the Government Investigations team at the law firm of King & Spalding LLP. After returning to North Carolina for graduate school, Lauren interned with the Financial & Business Services Division at NC DPI and served as Research Coordinator at the Wake Education Partnership. Lauren is a 2014 graduate of the NC Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) and is an active volunteer with the Junior League of Raleigh and Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County.

M. Corinne Smith was born and raised in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri.  She is a first-generation college student with a degree in K-12 Physical Education from Missouri State University, where she received the Outstanding Teacher Candidate of the Year Award upon graduation in 2005.  After serving as an International Sports Camp director for a few years, Corinne returned to graduate school at Arkansas Tech University where she received her Master's in College Student Personnel.  After graduation, Corinne began her career at Appalachian State University as Residence Life and Learning Communities Coordinator, where bridging the gap between the in- and out-of-classroom experience in order to improve college transition and student success was the purpose behind her work.  She is published in 2 scholarly journals with co-authors from Appalachian State University.  Corinne now serves as the Senior Associate Director of GEAR UP at Appalachian State and began in that position in June 2015.  Corinne is a 2016 graduate of the NC Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP).
